Born from the single-tree selection program at Kenya’s Scott Labs in the 1930s. SL9 was nearly extinct in Kenya due to its low yield and environmental sensitivity, it crossed hemispheres in the 1950s via the CATIE exchange program to find a new home in Peru.
In 2020, WCR genetic testing confirmed its true identity as SL-09, belonging to the Ethiopian Heirloom lineage. Though not a Geisha, it carries genetic potential and flavor depth that rival it.
The name 'Lorifunde' comes from the Spanish word Florifundio (meaning "angel's horn"), referring to the flower's horn-like shape. It blooms in the Andes Mountains, hence the name Lorifunde.
Coffees are roasted every Sunday and shipped on Monday.
