It is about 160 kilometres north of Nairobi. The cooperative was established in 2000 and currently has 1,542 members.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt is 1650 metres above sea level. Main coffee varieties include SL34, SL28 (accounting for 90%), Batian and Ruiru11. The Gathaithi Cooperative was originally part of the \u003cspan\u003eGiant Tetu Coffee Farmers Society\u003c\/span\u003e and was established independently in 2000. They take advantage of the harvest of the previous year.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThey divide funds to provide members with tuition prepayment, farm inputs and emergency needs funds.
